January Mom of the Month - Julie

Meet our January Mom of the Month, Julie Meese!

Julie joined Fit4Mom Pearland in June of 2014 with her son, Nathan. Since then, she has had a beautiful daughter, Kate, and all three of them attend Stroller Strides and Stroller Barre regularly. Julie always comes to class with a positive attitude and is one of the first mamas to reach out after class to meet someone new. She brings warmth and excitement to every class and we are so lucky to have her with us!

Tell us about you and your family.

I worked as a kindergarten and first grade teacher for 6 years before being a stay at home mom. A month after graduating with my Masters I got pregnant with Nathan. I worked for one year while he was a baby, and have stayed home for the past 2 and a half years. I will go back to teaching when my kids are in school. When I was in college/high school I worked in a daycare, after school care, as a camp counselor, and a nanny so I've seen it all lol. My husband Kevin and I have been together for 12 years and married for 8. He is an incredible husband and father. He works as an operator at a plant, which is a lot of long hours (including nights and weekends) but also a lot of time off during the week where we can do things as a family. Nathan is three and a half and is very articulate, energetic, and fun. Kate is 6 months and likes to smile and roll.

How did you hear about Fit4Mom Pearland and what made you start going?

I saw Fit4mom at the park and a friend and I tried it out one day. From the first day I knew it was a great workout and group of moms.

What is your favorite thing about motherhood?

My favorite thing about motherhood is watching my kids grow (and laugh if I can pick two).

What are some of your favorite things to do without kids?

I really like spending time with my family, so I don't spend a lot of time away from my kids. I do like going on dates, wineries, amusement parks, the beach, and adult restaurants. I also like girls nights out. I also like running races.

What TV show are you currently watching or book are you reading?

I need to catch up on the Gilmore Girls, and start This is Us, the Bachelor is my guilty pleasure, and my hubby and I like to watch The Big Bang theory reruns. I am reading the current book club book which is pretty intense.

What are some of your favorite Moms Night Outs and play groups?

I really like any moms night outs that includes food lol. I hope to go the the beach day at some point. The play dates I've enjoyed are pretty much all the ones we've been to.

What advice do you have for other moms?

Don't sweat the small stuff! Give yourself grace. Sometimes put down the housework to play. Give lots of hugs and kisses. When you're having a difficult day, just remember this too shall pass. My mom told me when I was at the hospital with my son, "give up on being the perfect mom because there are no perfect moms, Just be the best mom you can."
