April Mom of the Month - Sarah

Meet our April Mom of the Month, Sarah Buchanan!

Sarah has three amazing children all three years and under and still has enough energy to give it her all during workouts. She is incredibly motivating and inspiring to us all. Sarah is so easy to talk to, down to earth, and fun to be around. We are so lucky to have her in Our Village!

"Sarah is so genuine and has a way of making everyone feel at ease and welcome. She has great energy and intensity during workouts, and encourages others to give the same. I love spending my mornings with Sarah and her precious kids!" - Kim Smith

"Sarah is one of the strongest moms I know in more ways than one. She always has such a positive attitude and works so hard at class. She is truly inspiring and would do anything for anyone. Class would not be the same without her!" - Sarah Essex-Mann, Instructor

Tell us about you and your family.

My husband and I are blessed with 3 wonderful children. Alex just turned 3, Spencer turns 2 in several weeks and sweet Morgan is 6 months old. My husband is the president of the Pearland Economic Development Corporation and I was a teacher for 15 years before becoming a stay at home mom. We are both Iowa natives but have been Texans for the past 7 years.

How did you hear about FIT4MOM Pearland and what made you start going?

A fellow FIT4MOM member posted on a Facebook page she was looking for Puffs containers for a toddler project. I had several and when she came to collect them I asked her what fun project she had in store for the snack containers. She explained she was making them for her daughter and her friends to keep them busy during her workout class. She continued to tell me all about the class and I was eager to do more research. The VERY next day I was at a local park with my boys and struck up a conversation with another mom, who also happened to be a FIT4MOM member. She could not say enough nice things about the wonderful community of moms she worked out with several times a week. The next week I tried out the classes and have been an active member ever since.

What is your favorite thing about motherhood?

Motherhood is so amazing. Don’t get me wrong, it is hands-down the toughest job on the planet, but also the most rewarding. Watching my kids learn new things, explore the world around them, and mature into little people has made my heart so full.

What are some of your favorite things to do without kids?

When you have 3 little ones time alone is an extremely rare occurrence. However, when I can sneak away I enjoy seeing shows at the Hobby Center, walking down every single aisle at Target, and having a fun night out with my mom friends.

What TV show are you currently watching or book are you reading?

Are there shows on TV other than Paw Patrol and Bubble Guppies? My husband and I enjoy watching Survivor each week and occasionally catch an episode of Saturday Night Live.

What are some of your favorite Moms Night Outs and play groups?

I haven’t been able to attend any of the organized Moms Night Outs…..yet. All the playgroups are phenomenal. One of the best parts of FIT4MOM is watching all the kids interact and engage in activities after class. I feel those special times make up for the time they are stuck in the stroller during my workout.

What advice do you have for other moms?

Embrace all the memories you are creating. The good, and the bad. Days and weeks just fly by and before we know it our babies will be off on their own (sniff, sniff). Take time each day to be THANKFUL for all that you have….even on the rough days. And find support in other moms. The BEST part of FIT4MOM is the unbelievable support system. I will forever be grateful to be part of such an amazing group of strong, caring super moms.
