Introducing our December Mom of the Month, Grace Laing!
Grace joined Fit4Mom Pearland in May 2014 and has participated in Stroller Strides, Stroller Barre, and Fit4baby. She was also a play date captain for 2 years! This sweet mama is always welcoming and sincere, making any new person feel right at home. Let’s learn more about the fabulous mama who has given this group so much!
“I met Grace when our first borns were three months old. She’s an amazing mama to her three kids and the best friend to do motherhood with. Grace is selfless and focuses all of her energy on her kids and others. A role model I’m proud my girls get to look up to.” -Jessica Wyatt-Smith
"From her first day, Grace has always brought such positive energy to class and playdates. She is always willing to lend a helping hand and is an amazing mother. Grace is such an important part of our village and I am very thankful for her family."- Elizabeth Kelley
Tell us about you and your family.
My husband Clayton and I have 3 children. Jeffrey is 4, Juliett is 3, and Jonah just turned one. We are an Aggie family. We love spending time outdoors playing with our kids.
How did you hear about Fit4Mom Pearland and what made you start going?
One day driving to a prenatal appointment I saw the moms working out at Southdown while I was driving down 288. I thought it was cool and hoped some day I could join the group. After Jeffrey was about 3 months old I desperately needed to get out for the house and meet new friends so I decided to try it out.
What is your favorite thing about motherhood?
I just love being a mom. All I’ve ever really wanted to be when I grew up was a mom. Some days are super trying, but at the end of it I’m just so thankful God blessed me with these three little people. They bring so much joy, craziness, and happiness into my world and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
What are some of your favorite things to do without kids?
I enjoy crafting, baking, and shopping.
What TV show are you currently watching or book are you reading?
Currently watching all the cheesy Christmas movies on the Hallmark channel.
What are some of your favorite Moms Night Outs and play groups?
I love participating in the playgroup crafts and exploring new places with our Fit4Mom friends.
What advice do you have for other moms?
Just be yourself. Don’t compare the way your kids act, how clean your home is, or compare yourself to another mom who seems to have everything together. Everyone has different circumstances. Do your best to be happy and thankful for your life and be the best version of yourself that you can be.
Kids are kids and life is going to be messy, chaotic, and crazy at times. Learn to roll with this new rhythm and make adjustments, take time for yourself, and get rest when you can. Enjoy every minute of it all because it goes too fast.
And lastly, tell us something interesting that we may not know about you.
I love working with children and before becoming a mom I had never worked any job that didn’t involve childcare. I babysat, taught in daycare centers, and worked in church nurseries before becoming a Kindergarten teacher.
