March Mom of the Month - Candace

We are so excited to introduce our March Mom of the Month, Candace Cudd!

Candace began Stroller Strides with her two daughters in August of 2014. She is one of our most encouraging, dedicated, and inspiring mamas. She was just recently nominated to be a team leader for our Get Fit challenge because of her motivation and excitement for the group. She celebrated each success with her team, no matter how small. We are so lucky to have such a strong, kind-hearted woman in Our Village. Congratulations, Candace!

"Candace has a heart of gold and is so encouraging to be around. She is always eager to help out a fellow mama and is a role model of strength for all of us." - Elizabeth Kelley, Instructor

"Candace was our team leader for the Get Fit challenge. She is one of the most inspiring moms I have ever met. She has the ability to be encouraging and positive to other moms even through her own struggles!" - Jamie Hayden

Tell us about you and your family.

My husband and I are celebrating 18 years of marriage this month. We have two daughters, Audrey (7) and Piper (4). I graduated from the University of Austin and received my master's degree from University of Houston-Clear Lake. I was a second grade teacher before becoming an elementary school counselor. I am now a counselor in private practice which allows me the flexibility to be home with my girls and still work.

How did you hear about Fit4Mom Pearland and what made you start going?

I had moved to Pearland and was looking for a way to meet other moms. Most importantly, I wanted to be a role-model for my young daughters by being an active and healthy mom. I found Fit4Mom Pearland by searching online for mom's groups. I joined immediately and it was a perfect match.

What is your favorite thing about motherhood?

I enjoy experiencing life through my children's eyes. Watching them doing something new for the first time or excel at something they have been been working hard on brings me such joy.

What are some of your favorite things to do without kids?

Without kids is a very rare occurrence but I enjoy seeing live music, watching non-Disney movies : ), and reading.

What TV show are you currently watching or book are you reading?

I am loving the new show This Is Us. I am currently reading The Girl with All the Gifts and a book of poetry The Universe of Us.

What are some of your favorite Moms' Night Outs and play groups?

I have not been to a Moms' Night Out in so long. I am hoping to go to the Top Golf MNO because I love trying new things. All of the play dates with the kids are so much fun. They are full of crafts and adventures. The girls always enjoy them.

What advice do you have for other moms?

Give yourself permission to not be Super Mom all the time. Take time for yourself so that you have more to give back to your family. Most importantly, don't be afraid to ask for help because we are all in this adventure of Motherhood together.
