May Mom of the Month - Tabitha

Introducing our Mom of the Month, Tabitha Stough!

Tabitha joined FIT4MOM Pearland in summer of 2017. She has participated in Stroller Strides, Stroller Barre, Body Back, and the Get Fit challenge in 2018. She is so motivating and supportive of all other moms. She rocks being a mom, running, teaching, and planking for super long times. We love this mama!

Tell us about you and your family.

My husband and I moved from Pennsylvania to Houston to pursue my teaching career the summer of 2013. We’ve been married for almost 3 years, but together for over 8 years. I teach 4th grade in Houston at KIPP Explore. I’m the mommy to Connor, who is almost 20 months!

How did you hear about Fit4Mom Pearland and what made you start going?

While on maternity leave, I would go for walks at Southdown Park almost every day. I always saw this group of moms working out and thought, “hmm- that’s interesting!” A mom approached me and told me all about it. Within a week or so, I tried out my first class and never looked back. I have never met such an amazing group of mamas! The support and sense of community is something you won’t find anywhere else.

What is your favorite thing about motherhood?

Motherhood is nothing I could’ve ever imagined. I had no idea I could love someone as much as my son. The bond we have is something I can’t even begin to explain. I love his snuggles, silliness, and energy! It is beyond amazing to watch Connor learn new things every day.

What are some of your favorite things to do without kids?

Hmm, this doesn’t really happen often. One thing I enjoy doing with and without Connor is running. It’s one of the things I love to do to just clear my mind. When we have someone to watch Connor though, I thoroughly enjoy just spending time with my husband! Oh yeah, eating at a restaurant in peace- that’s great too!

What TV show are you currently watching or book are you reading?

I rarely have time to sit and watch TV, but when I do, I enjoy watching This is Us and Chicago Fire.

What are some of your favorite Moms Night Outs and play groups?

Anything that involves this group of amazing moms is a hit! Sadly, I haven’t made it to a Moms Night Out yet. I’m hoping to make it to one before summer starts!

What advice do you have for other moms?

I can’t say I have any worthy advice as I’m still learning what this journey is all about. However, there are two things that stick out to me. One thing I’ve learned is to cherish every single moment. Don’t wish time away. The days may seem long, but the years are short. Secondly, don’t ever get caught up in what other moms are doing. By that I mean don’t compare yourself. No matter what, you’re doing your best and that will always be enough!

Tell us something interesting about you that many of us may not know.

One interesting thing that people may not know is that I’ve had 8 concussions. I got my first one from basketball in middle school, then a lot from soccer throughout high school, and a few others from some ridiculous things. This, in addition to mom brain, makes it super hard for me to remember things!
