Introducing our Mom of the Month, Dana Van Horrick!
Dana joined Fit4mom Pearland in September 2017 and has participated in Stroller Strides, Stroller Barre, and Strides 360. She is a dedicated triathlete and a fantastic mom to sweet baby Kaelyn. We are so lucky to have this sweet friend in our Fit4Mom fam!
“I love when I see Dana at class! Not only is she a pleasure to talk to since she’s always happy and upbeat, but she’s a great athlete who helps push you to the end. You can see these wonderful traits in her daughter Kaelyn too!”-Allison Burkhard
“Dana is such a fun mom to have in class. She works so hard and is so kind to all of our mamas! It’s also been so awesome to see so many of our Strides families enjoy taking swim lessons with Dana! She is a wonderful part of our tribe!”-Katie Fenn
Tell us about you and your family.
I graduated from Texas A&M in 2010 and taught elementary PE for 7 years before having Kaelyn. I am a SAHM, swim instructor, and a kids triathlon coach. My husband and I got married in August 2014 and welcomed our sweet daughter in April of 2017.
How did you hear about Fit4Mom Pearland and what made you start going?
My friend did Stroller Strides in League City and told me (before I was even pregnant) that I would love Fit4Mom. She was right!
I started up because I’ve always enjoyed being active and wanted to continue that once having a baby. I remember my first day driving home from Stroller Strides and feeling so happy because I finally found where I belonged as a mama!
What is your favorite thing about motherhood?
The pure joy Kaelyn brings me. She is such a goofball and can always put a smile on my face. Having a kid really opens your eyes and puts so many things in a new perspective and I love that.
What are some of your favorite things to do without kids?
Go to A&M football games, have a fun night out, compete in triathlons.
What TV show are you currently watching or book are you reading?
Just finished 13 Reasons Why and Making a Murder. Now watching Pretty Little Liars.
What are some of your favorite Moms Night Outs and play groups?
I really enjoyed the Christmas party last year! It was a great time and I enjoyed getting to know a lot of other moms. Kaelyn and I have a blast meeting up with other SS mamas... jumping playgrounds, parks, etc. Lots of fun!
What advice do you have for other moms?
Continue to have fun and take time for yourself to relax every now and then! It’s easy to become so wrapped up in mom life that you forget about taking care of you. So get that pedicure, have that date night, whatever you need to keep yourself happy!
And lastly, tell us something interesting that we may not know about you.
I’ve been to all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums. My parents, brothers, and myself were able to visit every team/stadium over a span of 11 summers. Thanks mom and dad! Made for some fun family vacations and memories around the US.
