Meet our February Mom of the Month, Jennifer Vela!
"Jennifer is such a valuable long-standing part of our Fit4Mom Pearland family. She shows up to each class with a smile and checks in to see how everyone is doing. She brings the best energy to every class and you can often find her dancing too if her jam comes on. She works hard at class and encourages the other moms to give their best too!" - Elizabeth
"When you see Jennifer’s name on your class roster you know you’re in for a fun class. She brings the fun, laughter and high energy with her wherever she goes, there’s never a dull moment when you’re with Jen. Not only is she a great class participant but also the best running buddy around. We’ve trained for 2 going on 3 half marathons together and there’s no one I’d rather commit to spending hours running with than her. She an all around great mom, listener, accountability partner and most of all the best friend a girl could ask for." - Victoria
Tell us who makes up your family.
Hi I’m Jennifer and my husband and I have 2 amazing kids, Lily (12) and Daniel (7). I’m from Houston but moved (only 17 mins away from my momma) to Pearland in 2007 and we’ve been here ever since. I love Texas!
What is your proudest mommy moment?
There are so many proud mommy moments but the biggest one is simply watching my babies become respectful & well-behaved little people. Being active and working out daily makes me pretty proud. My kids see how important it is for me to move my body to feel strong and be able to keep up with them.
What are a few of your favorite things?
My favorite things are drinking coffee, drinking wine with a cheese board (girl dinner) reading, having lunch with girlfriends, dancing, napping, volunteering at my kids' school, working out and running! Running is pretty high on my list of favorite things I like to do.
What surprised you most about motherhood? What advice would you give a new mom?
My advice to new moms is to give yourself grace. Allow yourself to make mistake after mistake. We are so hard on ourselves and we need to slow down and try to enjoy the messiness of it all. Every phase of motherhood has its hardships but having a community like F4M where you can talk to another momma is so amazing.
What do you love about FIT4MOM? What would you say to a new mom who is thinking about coming to class?
There are so many things I love about Fit4Mom! I love the variety of classes offered. I love the community and the friendships I have made over the years. I love that, although I am passed the “stroller phase” of motherhood, I’m always welcomed to stroller classes. I love that this group introduced me to the Run Club because I have been running ever since. For any new mom thinking about coming to their first class, do it. It can be scary starting anything new but these mommas are some of the sweetest around. I promise you’ll ask yourself why you didn’t start sooner.
