Meet our January Mom of the Month, Amy Sequeira!
I absolutely love having Amy in my classes! Whenever I see her name on the roster, I know I’m in for good conversation and company. She always comes to class with a positive attitude and with a smile on her face, ready to start her workout. You can always find her talking to everyone and anyone she comes across. Her and her son Teddy are such a joy to have around! Way to go, Amy!

Amy is always a treat to have in class! She is positive, punctual, and always pushes herself to finish what she starts. She adds friendliness and warmth to any class she attends. And I love to see her son Teddy grooving to the music! Amy, thanks for always adding your SPARKLE in class!

Tell us who makes up your family. Where are you from? What brought you to Pearland?
I am married to my wonderful husband, Patrick, and we will celebrate 5 years married this year! We have a 2 year old son, Teddy, who is just the light of our lives and keeps us busy and going all the time and we wouldn’t have it any other way 😀 I am due in early April with our 2nd son 💙💙 I grew up in Clear Lake area and started teaching there in 2013. I still teach 3rd grade reading and writing in Clear Lake. I met my husband through a summer day camp that we both worked in 2015 that is based in town, so we moved to Pearland area to be halfway between our jobs (he is also a teacher and coach at a catholic school in town). We love Pearland area for the proximity to the zoo and museums, the parks and stores in the area, and of course the people in the community like all the Fit4Mom families we have met!
What is your proudest mommy moment?
I am so proud of the kindness and empathy Teddy already shows 💕 If another child is crying anytime we are out, he always looks at me with these sad eyes and I reassure him that their Mama or Daddy is helping them feel better 🥹 And if someone says “Ouch!” he always says sorry so sweetly, even if it wasn’t his fault they got hurt ♥️
What are a few of your favorite things?
I love to read, travel, and spend time outside. Most of my reading is through listening to audiobooks, and I am currently loving thrillers and historical fiction. My husband and I are working on visiting all 50 states and we are currently at 44! We love visiting national and state parks, breweries, coffee shops, and bookstores when we travel.
What surprised you most about motherhood? What advice would you give a new mom?
The most surprising thing about motherhood for me was how much control I had to give up. I had to let go of the perfect schedules and routines quickly when Teddy didn’t respond well to them. My advice to a new mom would be to surround yourself with supportive people (like Fit4Mom friends!) and get out of the house at least once per day once you are comfortable taking baby in public. I was amazed at how much that helped my mental health starting when Teddy was about 2 months old, and even now if we are in a bad mood, it helps so much to get out of the house for a bit!
What do you love about FIT4MOM? What would you say to a new mom who is thinking about coming to class?
My favorite thing about Fit4Mom is talking with other moms on our 3-minute travels. The perfect time to vent, get advice, and share celebrations with each other 💕 I also love having a no-pressure way to move my body and get a little exercise, doing the crafts with Teddy after class, and seeing Teddy’s new little friendships form at the playground after class 🙂 I would tell a new mom to just come try out a class! We are a judgement-free group who don’t care if you’re late or if your kiddo is crying and having a hard time. Everyone is welcome!
