January Mom of the Month - Meghan

Meet our January Mom of the Month, Meghan Jones!

"Meghan and Ella are a joy to have in our FIT4MOM family. They consistently show up to class and playdates, even on days when it's hard to get there. Meghan can be found greeting new and veteran moms with a smile and making sure they feel welcomed. And I love trying to make Ella smile!" - Elizabeth

"Meghan's light shines so bright? She comes to class ready to work and pushes herself to the next level! Her positivity is infectious! And I can't wait to see what color bow her real life doll, Ella, will wear next!" - Jennifer

Tell us who makes up your family.

I was born and raised in New Orleans and moved to Texas after Hurricane Katrina. I met my husband in Houston in 2011 and he had family in Pearland so bought a house here in 2012. He, Ella (3) and I live here and we have my stepson Brody (17) every other week.

What is your proudest mommy moment?

My proudest mommy moment is actually becoming a mom. We dealt with infertility for three long years and did lots of IVF to have Ella. It was very discouraging at times, especially after a miscarriage, but I desperately wanted to be a mom and persevered and here she is!

What are a few of your favorite things?

Ella is my very favorite thing and I love watching her become a little person and having little conversations with her and watching her mind work. I see lots of lunch and shopping dates in our future! I also love coffee, target, ballet, reading, everything and anything girly and pink, and naps (wish Ella liked those as much as I do!).

What surprised you most about motherhood? What advice would you give a new mom?

What surprised me most about motherhood was just going through the process of becoming a mother! I feel like it's something no one can prepare you for and everyone's journey is different. I had all these plans to get so much done while she was a sleepy newborn but I'm sure we all know how that worked out. I would tell a new mom to just give yourself as much grace and patience as you give your baby. Your baby is new to all this but so are you! I feel like an entirely different, better version of myself as a mother.

What do you love about FIT4MOM? What would you say to a new mom who is thinking about coming to class?

I love Fit4Mom the most because of the impact it has on my mental health as a mother. It gets us both out of the house most mornings and we both get to socialize and make friends, plus endorphins from exercise! To a new mom I would say, just give it a try. Fit4Mom works for all levels of fitness and is such a great way to connect with other moms at all stages of motherhood!
