Meet our June Mom of the Month & Instructor Spotlight, Kimber Anderson!
How did you find out about Fit4Mom?
I found out about Fit4Mom through a friend who loved the franchise in San Antonio. I was looking to find a fitness group where I could keep my kiddos with me (not drop them off somewhere, or need childcare) and find new mama friends who were going through a similar chapter of life. I found all those things oh so perfectly in Fit4Mom Pearland!
How did you become an instructor?
My sweet friend Kristen, who had recently become an instructor at the time, asked if I was interested in becoming an instructor, and it was a resounding yes! I used to do outreach education and did collegiate athletics so I have always had a passion both teaching and group fitness, so coaching is the perfect marriage of both! I love it! Especially, with Fit4Mom, I get to coach all of my friends!
Tell us who makes up your family. Where are you from? What brought you to Pearland?
I’m a mama to two amazing kiddos, Dean who is three and Faelan who is 16 months. I met my hubby in 2012 and we’ve been married 5 years. I’m originally from California but graduate school brought me to TX in 2016 and then to Pearland to be near family.
What is your proudest mommy moment?
Ahhh this is so hard to boil down to one so y'all get a few: training for and completing a 5k while pushing a stroller with a 1yo in it, giving birth unmedicated in a hospital with my second pregnancy, breastfeeding my babies, and seeing sweet moments of my son being a loving big brother!
What are a few of your favorite things?
I love the beach, being outside with my babies, sunshine, Fit4Mom run club, sourdough, chocolate, and Jesus!
What surprised you most about motherhood? What advice would you give a new mom?
The most surprising thing is the complete and totally identity shift of leaving a career that was my passion to staying at home with my babies. I had to change how I found self worth in my day to day; no longer getting “gold stars” from high achieving but instead getting cuddles and love from my babies. When I surrendered to my new calling as a mama and let go of the previous chapter, I have never felt more convicted to be anywhere than at home raising my sweet babies. I am blessed to be able to do so. If you’re a new mama struggling with the change or shift in identity, find a group of other like-minded mamas (*cough cough Fit4Mom*) to lean on and learn from! Doing motherhood together get is so much easier!
What do you love about FIT4MOM? What would you say to a new mom who is thinking about coming to class?
I love the village that Fit4Mom is; it’s filled with some of the best human beings I’ve ever met in my entire life. So many of these ladies become amazing friends, love on my kiddos, we watch out for each other and better yet our babies become besties. This village has helped me through one of the hardest chapter of my life. When I lost my house and most of our belongings to toxic mold, this village clothed us, provided essentials, fed us, loved us and helped me get back on my feet emotionally and physically. I cannot express in words what this group has done for my family. It is one of the biggest blessings in my life. My advice for prospective mamas wanting to attend is to not be worried about where you are on your fitness journey/level before trying a class. We have a rainbow of levels in every class and the only thing that other mamas care about is that you came! We are just excited that you are here and showed up to class, which isn’t always easy with littles!
