September Mama of the Month - Kallie

Meet our September Mama of the Month: Kallie Gettinger!

“Kallie is such an inspiration. Her passion for her family and her work with children comes through in all she does and says. She is so happy and energetic and always great to talk to! She is a great friend and always makes workouts more fun.” – Nina Fullmer

"Kallie is so much fun to have in class! She always brings a smile and lots of energy. She is patient and loving with her kiddos and she inspires me to be a better mom. We are so thankful her family is a part of FIT4MOM Pearland!"-Elizabeth Kelley

When did you join Fit4Mom? Which class do you attend? Which class is your favorite and why?

I just hit my year mark in August! I try to attend as many classes as I can, and typically make it to Stroller Strides, Stroller Barre and Strides 360. I love the challenge of all the classes, but the outdoor version of 360 is my favorite. It combines the personal endurance challenge plus the strength, speed and agility. I love the format of that work out

Tell us about your family.

We are about to hit our 2-year mark living in Houston this month. I am the wife to Brian for 10 years and a momma to 3 incredible kiddos- Paisley age 6, Carson age 4 and Elizabeth age 2. We have 2 fur babies, Hunter and Beau.

How did you hear about Fit4Mom, and why did you decide to join?

I take my kids to parks regularly and one day a group of moms pushing strollers ended a workout class by hanging at the park we were attending. One approached me asking if I wanted to join- I must have looked like someone who either needed to work out or needed friends! Ha! I tried my first week after that and signed up! It has been the best thing for me. I found a fantastic group of women/moms/wives that find it important to do something for themselves, as well as their kids. I found friends for both myself and my kids. It’s been the best thing for our family!

What is your favorite thing about motherhood?

So many things! I love seeing the wheels turning as my kids explore new challenges and try new ideas- there is nothing better than when the light bulb goes off and everything clicks! My all time favorite thing might be the endless cuddling I get from my kids. All of my kids love to snuggle, so I'll take all the togetherness I can get before they get too big!

What does September, the beginning of fall, look like for you and your family?

September is filled with a lot of new things for us this year. My kids are all in school with new teachers and friends and I am starting my own play therapy practice! We will be busy, but busy is good for us! I'm sure there will be plenty of football watching (Go Chiefs!) and time spent with friends.

So far, what has been your favorite milestone to watch?

Oh this one's hard, I love seeing my kids learn new skills so each stage has made my momma heart melt. I think so far, I love seeing them feel proud of what they accomplished. It could be anything from learning to read/write, shoot a basketball or tie their shoes. It seriously makes me so happy to see them so proud of themselves.

What similarities do you and your children have in common?

They all have my temper! Ha. And my stubbornness. A pretty lethal combo when it comes to being a parent, but in the end those characteristics will do them well.

What are some of your favorite things to do without kiddos?

Sleep!! And read books. I am a terribly selfless person when it comes to my family, so I often sacrifice important self-care activities to ensure my family is taken care of. I accompanied Brian on a work trip shortly after Elizabeth was born, it was just him and I, and ended up sleeping 14 hours the first night we were away. It was the best! Ha

And lastly, tell us something interesting that we may not know about you.

Since being married Brian and I have moved 5 times, buying and selling houses each time. Also, each of our kids were born in different states!
